Robin Williams: Photographers Remember a Legendary Actor
To mark the tragic and untimely passing of actor and comedian Robin Williams, TIME LightBox presents a selection of photographs accompanied by the recollections of the photographers who made them.
Thank you Robin for giving us YOU with so much joy and laughter. I met you when Mork was your life. How ironic that as a wacky alien Mork was trying to understand and make sense of our world. Now, we’re trying to understand you and your world, why you chose to leave? You must have felt alien here again with no one connecting to your pain. An Alanis, “isn’t it ironic?” moment in our time. We will miss your sunshine.*) It’s in our hearts.
Frizzi and I are sitting in the grass, under our favorite tree, in the park watching the day unveil itself. I was thinking, he left no note; wondering if he started, stopped, tried days earlier to compose something in his head. Too many things in his head or not enough to do a life justice. For those left to understand the reason, the excuse. I’ve written a note twice. When I was 16 after my parents sat us down said they were getting a divorce and a year or so after my Dad died. Watching the ocean off our roof made the first one easy to delete from my brain, D made the second null and void.
